And Those Happy And Sad Times!
Let me ask you a quick question. How many times have you wondered what happens after you hit the epitome of success or rockbottom of failure? We are always elated over that one victory/success and sink deeper with a loss. But, that's never the end. It's all about small victories and losses. And how this shapes us and defines us, isn't?
It's only in the movies that there is a "The End" and what happens next is never shown. Happy or sad. If I have to quote a few sports oriented movies, where the main lead(s) emerges victorious, it just leaves you with a feeling of awe, like you yourselves won, and if you are emotional like me, you'd get carried away with those moments and you feel the victory. Movie ends. And boom! Back to reality!
We are not trained well to handle success or failure, in my opinion. And the one who handles well is the one who becomes a legend/hero in his/her domain. Don't you think? If not, then why each one of us are not heroes? We might want to think we are. That's a very optimistic view of one's journey. But, if we are all heroes, why aren't we celebrated by others? Is it because each one of us are heroes and there is no one left to celebrate? :-D
Anyway, keeping the focus on my central theme, each one of us have our share of success or losses in the sphere we live in. Then, why is life so different from the movies? Because there are plenty of situations beyond that one success or loss that we encounter.
A very long time ago, I read a quote, "Never let success get to your head, and never let failure get to your heart". So, how many of us live by this? Very few. And those very few are the celebrated heroes. That is the only difference between them and the rest of us.
In these three decades of existence or less or more (based on how you scale up), you must have met a plenty of people and you would have seen a variety of mindsets and an array of behaviours. I have. And amongst all these people, how many of them have remained the same? Ideally, it's not possible. But, you would have noticed a change in their behaviour, and attributed to their situation, right? Either they would have been doing good or bad. But their behavioural changes are directly proportional to their conditions of livelihood. In conclusion, the aforementioned quote doesn't work! Application failure!
So, each one of us are not heroes because we change with situations and somewhere we digress from the party. But, how about not letting any of these external materialistic things affect us? I don't know if it's going to be successful. But we can always try! What say? I am no sage, but I have failed to understand how something which will soon fade away, like those exhilarating moments, direct your behaviour. At times, even I am a victim, that I give away to those moments. But, by virtue of my sun sign, for most part I am not.
Ok, so I can do something that you cannot and vice versa or you have achieved something that I might not and vice versa. So what? How does that mean anything to what might happen or might be happening. That's your make. Those are few moments of the present and the future has many more moments to present. As simple as that.
Why these fluctuations?
Ponder over if you have a moment to spare. And the ensuing thoughts probably would be a very successful mantra for happy relationships all around. You might not be emotional, but you have emotions. Because we are the so called forward species. Others (species) also do, but they are not as complicated as us! :-)
